intu Victoria Centre are delighted to announce that local-run charity When You Wish Upon a Star will be receiving the donations thrown into the Emett Clock's pond. 'When You Wish' is a wonderful Nottingham-based charity that does fantastic work across the country granting wishes for children living with a life threatening illness and their families.
Nigel Wheatley, general manager, said "Over the years staff at intu Victoria Centre have been overwhelmed by the amount of money raised each year through donations from our generous customers. This time, we have even taken special protective measures to ensure that the clock doesn’t get damaged any further as a result of coins hitting its delicate parts, and When You Wish Upon A Star was a brilliant choice for us.”
Maggie Falconer, regional fundraiser for the charity, said: “We are delighted to see the return of the Emett Clock and as When You Wish Upon a Star celebrates 25 years of granting Wishes, it is wonderful to be chosen as the beneficiary charity.
“When You Wish Upon a Star grants Wishes for children living with a life threatening illness and the funds raised throughout the year will enable us to continue granting very special Wishes and will enable hundreds of children to swap hospital beds for sleigh rides in December when we take children living with a life threatening illness on a magical journey to meet Father Christmas in Lapland.”
