We’re inviting all shoppers to take part in special leaf decorating workshops!
As well as live fashion shows (Friday 2 October and Saturday 3 October) a supersized mannequin dressed in a specially crafted garment created entirely from leaves decorated by the people of Nottingham will be unveiled at the centre.
The workshops will take place at the centre on Saturday 26 September and Saturday 3 October between 11am and 4pm each day, where they will be able to create their very own leaf for inclusion within the dress.
Nicola McCabe, marketing manager at intu Victoria Centre, said: “This weekend will see the start of our fashion activities for our fashion fortnight Next week we have our live fashion shows taking place which will give our customers the opportunity to see the trends and brands available in our stores for Autumn/Winter.
“We will then be building and unveiling this fantastic ‘dress of leaves’ on the mall, which will not only feel really autumnal but create a real statement in the centre. It’s an exciting first for us and we’re really looking forward to the people of Nottingham getting involved and putting their stamp on the dress.
“We’d love to see customers young and older taking part in the workshops to design their own leaves, so we’ve got as many as possible to create a beautiful dress.”
As well as hosting workshops to decorate leaves intu is looking to collaborate with a number of local schools to encourage the local community to get involved with the project.
Nicola added: “We would love to see schools taking part, just as they did with our special re-launch of the much loved Emett Clock earlier in the year when thousands of butterflies were put together to create a stunning mobile in the centre. We continue to get compliments about how fantastic they all look!”
The season’s Autumn/Winter trends will be put on display on 2 and 3 October at the centre’s South Square, which will be taken over by an incredible mirrored catwalk.
Visitors to the shows will also be able to pick up a limited edition cotton shopper bag created exclusively for intu by British textile designer Celia Birtwell, which will be available to those who have signed up to the event online at intu.co.uk/victoriacentre (subject to availability, while stocks last).
