Following the latest update from the Government that non-essential retail may open from 15 June, I am writing to update you on our plans.
I assure you that we are doing everything we can to make sure our centres are safe places to visit and work. Everything we do will continue to be in line with the Government’s guidance.
To keep people safe and to help everyone get used to a new way of shopping, we will follow detailed and adaptable plans that have been created by some of the best brains in our business. We have looked at every element of what we need to do to run our centres as safely as possible and while we have common principles that have guided our decisions, each centre is unique and therefore has its own bespoke plan.
The experience is going to be different for our visitors and staff and we know that a lot of people will be feeling anxious about either coming back to work or going out shopping again. We are doing everything we can to help people feel confident to venture outside and visit our centres.
Our priority as we start to come out of the lockdown is to keep people safe. Nothing is more important to us and we will continue to make sure that our centres are clean and safe places to be.
Social distancing is essential and as we start to see more stores re-open, we will have a range of additional safety measures in place to support this. Our teams will be managing the number of visitors inside our centres and we will have controls in place at entrance and exit points to allow us to do this effectively.
Visitors can still expect our usual, warm intu welcome, but it is important that we monitor capacity very carefully and stay within the recommended limits. It is likely that we will have a queuing system outside centre entrances at busier times to regulate footfall.
Once inside, we will ask everyone to do their part too; to follow the official guidance and to listen to the instructions provided by our teams and that are on display. These measures are for the good of everyone who visits or works in our centres and it is vital that we all do our part in keeping ourselves and each other safe.
We may ask people to follow a marked route and to keep 2m apart. We will have hand sanitisation stands at key points throughout the centre for everyone to use. We ask that everyone makes use of these when entering the centre and regularly throughout their visit.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our brand customers, our visitors and especially our teams who have been working incredibly hard to keep our centres clean and safe. We would also like to thank everyone for their patience and support as we adapt our offering so we can continue to serve our local communities in the way we know best.
We will provide further updates on a regular basis, until then please stay safe.
