         Summary of the role:

The Duty Controller (DC) is accountable to the Guest Duty Manager (GDM) for the support and delivery of security.  This will include compliance, statutory, contractual and company regulations and processes.The DC will ensure exemplary standards of security and customer service are provided to the customers at all times. Team building and staff morale will be a priority of the jobholder. The DC will be expected to positively contribute to the performance and growth of the security team and the shopping centre.

  This role will include a variety of tasks including the following:

  • To support  the GDM in the operational management and delivery of all manned security within the shopping centre
  • Ensuring that the centre meets the security KPI standard required
  • Focus the Security team on providing excellent customer service to all customers
  • Ensure compliance with all internal procedures, site processes and external bodies including enforcement agencies and auditory bodies
  • Motivate and monitor the team to achieve the highest possible standards of service delivery
  • Maintain standards of performance, discipline and welfare for the team in accordance with company policies
  • To support the GDM in  development and training of staff
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business
  • Being part of succession planning to support GDMs as and when required

Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting the GDMs in the continuous review and implementation of security management best practice into the team
  • Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events
  • To ensure that records are held and updated as required
  • To ensure all daily paperwork in completed and filled correctly
  • To ensure patrols routes are managed correctly and fairly
  • To  make sure all incident/accident reports are completed in timely manner
  • To ensure prompt and effective response to incidents


  • To deliver excellent communications and motivation for all direct reports
  • To ensure objectives, performance reviews and Toolbox Talks are completed as per company policy
  • To identify training needs and ensure accurate site records are maintained at all times

 Qualifications, Experience and Expectations of employer:


  • Successful track record of delivering security solutions to internal client base
  • Dual SIA licensed (CCTV / Security or Door Supervisor)


  • Substantial experience in the supervision of people, including training
  • Experience within teams where motivation and development have been key drivers
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams effectively
  • Demonstrable experience of developing operational solutions for successful business development
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills
  • Capability to work unsupervised and take responsibility
  • Aptitude to remain calm under pressure
