Here at intu Uxbridge, we’ve chosen two fantastic charities to support throughout 2016, and with your help, raise as much awareness and vital funds for as possible.
This year, we’ll be supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young and Rainbow Trust.
Look out for a selection of fundraising events across the year, donation pots in-centre and much more to help these two fantastic charities in 2016.
Cardiac Risk in the Young
With at least 12 young, apparently fit and healthy people (aged 35 and under) in the UK losing their lives due to undiagnosed heart conditions every week, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death since 1995.
CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected, as well as funding heart screening programmes and medical research.
Thanks to the continued fundraising efforts of the charities supporters, CRY has been able to maintain the momentum of raising awareness of young sudden cardiac death. CRY also develop pioneering screening programme across the UK , which now tests over 23,000 young people every year, contributing to vital research.
In February 2016, CRY opened a pop-up charity shop here at intu Uxbridge, raising funds for the charity by selling a selection of tour outfits, costumes and shoes from their patron Pixie Lott.
Over the course of 2016, we managed to raise £10,947 for CRY, through multiple events and charity collections, and are looking forward to working with CRY throughout 2017.
