Stoke City are delighted to reveal their new home and away kits for the 2016/17 Premier League season, designed and manufactured by the Club’s new technical kit supplier Macron. The new kit is available to purchase from Saturday 14 May at the intu Potteries store on the upper mall.
The Potters will wear the new home kit for the first time when they meet West Ham at the Britannia Stadium in their final game of this season on Sunday, 15 May – 24 hours after both kits go on general sale at scfcdirect.com and the Club stores.
The home kit shows a classic red and white stripe, while the blue away kit draws inspiration from the strips worn in the late 1970s and early ‘80s and which figured in the promotion winning season of 1978/79.
When working with the Club on the designs, encompassing the true spirit of Stoke City’s history and their fans passion was high on the agenda and both kits boast the attention to detail that Macron can provide.
As well as the fully embroidered Stoke City crest and the Potters back neck branding, the away shirt features an embossed S which adorned the first ever Stoke Kit back in 1882, as well as red press studs at the collar and a red and white tab to the back neck.
A small collar on the home shirt with red and white stripe underside underlines Macron’s Italian flair and craftsmanship.
As the Premier League are looking to introduce a rule to enforce squad number visibility to complement UEFA’s rules for clubs playing in European competition, we have incorporated a white panel on the reverse of the shirt. However, we have retained our red and white stripe DNA on part of the back and incorporated red letters and numbers to complement the shirt.
Both kits are manufactured using Performance System Fabric for increased comfort, breathability and moisture absorption. These technically advanced products will be proudly worn by Mark Hughes’ players and their supporters throughout the 16/17 season and will hopefully inspire the team to glory.
To share the story so far, we have produced an exclusive video that goes behind the scenes at Macron HQ. It also boasts footage from the photo-shoot at the stadium involving first team stars and members of the Stoke City Ladies squad, who will also wear the new kit next season. To view click here.
