We asked each of our restaurants for their favourite recipe for customers to take home and try themselves. Here is a tasty recipe for Avacodo and Bacon Burger from Gourmet Burger Kitchen. You can find their menus and opening times here too.
Avacodo and Bacon Burger
2 x burger patties
2 x sesame seed buns – sliced in half
4 x rashers streaky bacon – grilled until nice & crispy
4 x slices red leicester or mature cheddar cheese
4 x large tbsp avocado mix
4 x tbsp GBK house relish
4 x tbsp GBK smoked chilli mayo or GBK harissa mayo
finely sliced red onion rings (optional)
2 x ripe avocados
squeeze of lemon & lime juice
¼ x tsp dried chilli flakes
salt & pepper
How to make the avocado mix
1 Cut the avocados in half, remove the stone and scoop flesh into a bowl.
2 Add the lemon & lime juice and chilli flakes.
3 Use a table knife to roughly chop the avocado into bite size pieces.
4 Season to taste with salt & pepper and mix through until the avocado starts to break down.
5 Be careful not to over mix, you want to keep the avocado mix quite chunky!
How to make the burgers
1 Grill the burgers on the BBQ or in a griddle pan.
2 When they’re almost done, add a slice of cheese and 2 rashers of bacon to each burger (if your BBQ has a lid, now is the time to close it so the cheese melts properly).
3 Lightly toast the cut sides of the buns on the BBQ or in the pan.
4 Spread the mayo on the base of the bun.
5 Add the burger patty with bacon and cheese.
6 Top with avocado mix and red onion rings (if using).
7 Spread the GBK House Relish on the top of the bun on the toasted side.
