To celebrate the centre’s pearl anniversary, an exhibition showcasing old photographs and documents can be viewed by River Island for the whole month of June! With key facts, staff and retailer quotes and lots of nostalgic photos, take a trip down memory lane.
On Friday 1st June 1988, intu Potteries (then The Potteries Shopping Centre) opened to hundreds of excited shoppers. It took three years to build, cost £45m and 3 million bricks produced locally were used. Now 30 years later intu Potteries boasts an annual footfall of 11 million, the same size as the population of Greece. With over 80 shops, 7 restaurants and a 9-screen cinema, the centre is a thriving retail and leisure destination.
Can you remember the construction works before we opened or do you know which of our retailers have been in the same spot for 30 years? Share your memories with us on social media using the hashtag #intuPotteriesis30.
