Job Title: Assistant Manager
Reports To: Store Manager
Purpose: An Assistant Manager role is integral to the success of the store performance. Your ultimate goal is to ensure that every customer has an exceptional experience in the store, which is distinctive to Jack Wills. You have to love everything you do and be an all rounded individual focusing on the customer experience as a priority, be commercially focused as well as balancing the right visual proposition for your store. You will inspire and manage a team to deliver outstanding results. The support to the Store Manager in delivering the KPI performance and retail strategy is key in the role expectations.
Tasks: Support the Store Manager by creating a culture where service comes first ensuring that the team deliver all day every day. Works towards the retail / store strategy to maximise profit. Ensure visual excellence is achieved on 100% wills and standards are delivered using the team and tools available to support. Make commercial decisions using all tools available on daily and longer term basis. Motivate the team to deliver daily/ weekly targets by making good commercial decisions. Understands and has a view on what is happening in retail and your own market place and makes recommendations. Challenge areas to improve and manage the team to deliver a difference daily. Build a customer profile and ensure that Branch merchandising and marketing have understood who your customers are. Encourage ideas; give feedback and solutions to the store manager. Improve and drive all KPIs i.e. Sales, Conversion, ATV, Payroll, Stock loss and HR. Use all business tools available. Take every opportunity to grow, stretch and develop within your role. Recruits outstanding individuals who will deliver result, love the brand and are passionate about the customer. Continuously recognises individual’s great performance and challenges poor performance. Works towards and delivers a development plan for the team. Identify and support individual staff needs through performance reviews. Supports the Store Manager in delivering succession for the future using the company Talent Grid as a tool. Engage the team, through great team briefs and store communication. Encouraging the team to be creative and to try new ideas. Build relationships with Head Office to support your store. Takes full responsibility for FOH and BOH operations. Supporting the Store Manager to ensure yourself and the team are aware and understand the policies and procedures and that the store is legally compliant. This includes, till and cash handling, payroll management, stock management, administration, and H&S.
The Person: Excellent communicator at all levels. Is able to deliver feedback and suggestions at all levels. Takes personal responsibility for store results. Has experience in leading and managing a successful team. A team player, who works hard, is reliable and operates with integrity. Develop great working relationships across the store, area and company. Able to use own initiative and make quick decisions. Demonstrate the ability to react quickly and manage at pace. Keeps up to date with the retail trends. Will demonstrate a love of Jack Wills. Be professional whist creating a fun environment.
