intu Merry Hill is championing Dudley local, six year old Elijah, with his mission to raise £500 for the Little Princess Trust, after growing his hair for over two years.
The long awaited haircut will take place at Doc Barnet salon at intu Merry Hill on Saturday 26 May 2018, and the centre is calling on locals to show their support by donating to the worthy cause, the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children and young adults that have sadly lost their own hair due to illness.
Elijah is hoping to raise enough money to cover the cost of the wig, as well as donating his hair through the haircut. The wigs cost £300-£500 to make and will go to the charity’s wig manufacturers, skilled specialists who blend the hair donations together. It can take between seven-10 individual donations to make a single wig.
Receiving a natural wig gives a massive boost of self-confidence to children suffering from illness related hair loss.
Elijah will be in royal company as Kate Middleton reportedly donated her hair to the trust earlier this year.
Naomi Campbell, Community Development Manager at intu Merry Hill, said, “We are so proud to be supporting Elijah at intu Merry Hill in his mission to make a poorly child happier by donating his hair.
“Even though he’s only six, Elijah has made an incredibly compassionate decision in growing and donating his hair specifically for the trust, showing understanding beyond his years. We hope that his donation will encourage others to consider supporting the charity in the same way.”
