Reporting to the Regional Project Surveyor and working in close partnership with the Regional Centre Director and Asset team at intu Merry Hill the Building Surveyor will be responsible for the delivery of a range of small and medium works projects from inception to completion, handover and operation.
As an in-house Building Surveyor, the role requires the suitable candidate to act as the employer's agent to drive all aspects of contract administration across the projects. They will be an excellent communicator, a clear decision maker and an overall dedicated team player.
Key duties will include; ensuring projects are thoroughly scoped have robust contract administration and project management, specifications of works, preparation of drawings (using Auto CAD), tender documentations is organised and programmes of works are developed. In addition, the Building Surveyor will advise on the appointment of contractors, designers and additional procurement routes. As Building Surveyor, the post holder will also be responsible for determining the condition of the existing building and identifying and analysing defects and present proposals for repairs and future projects.

The successful candidate will be results driven and have a track record that enables them to demonstrate the ability to drive operational improvement whilst ensuring first class relationships and the delivery of exceptional customer service levels at all times.
In addition, the Building Surveyor will work closely with contractors, centre colleagues, central, regional and H&S specialists in the delivery of key business and project objectives. The will be responsible for the control of statutory compliance, project coordination and risk, ensuring a high quality project is delivered.
It is anticipated that successful candidates will come from a client side or private practice organisation within Building Surveying or Project Management and be qualified to HND/HNC (minimum) within a building related discipline. Successful candidates will also be able to demonstrate experience in the successful delivery of a range of small to medium scale projects. Candidates are also expected to hold professional membership of an industry related body such as RICS or CIOB and in addition hold a IOSH or NEBOSH general certificate.
