Your essential toolkit

Dual pencil sharpener

An essential for any makeup bag, a dual sharpener is a clean and simple way to keep your thick and thin cosmetic pencils sharp for precise application. Pick one with a built-in blade cleaner for easy maintenance.

Rina recommends

Eyeliner brush

For gel eyeliner applications, an extra fine point brush will give you a precise line in one stroke, or dot in-between lashes for a more subtle effect. A flat eyeliner brush allows the gel to be applied deep into the lash line.

Rina recommends

Eye shadow brush

To achieve the best coverage, choose a flat eye shadow brush packed with bristles to apply all-over colour – super-soft bristles and a bevelled edge will give a smooth application. For blending your eye shadow choose a long, round and tapered brush.

Rina recommends

Spoolie brush

Ideal for taming unruly hairs, the stiff bristles smooth and comb eyebrows into shape, plus, it will sweep away any annoying mascara lumps clogged in your eyelashes.

Rina recommends

Slanted Eyebrow Definer Brush

Used to define and fill brows, the bristles are stiff and angled for precise control. A must if you need to fill sparse areas, or shape and elongate your eyebrows. Also great for softening the lines left when using an eyebrow pencil.

Rina recommends

Eyelash curler

Curlers create a dramatic curl on even the shortest, straightest lashes. Choose one with a rubber base to give a smooth curl that doesn’t kink, and a curler with rubber refills (if it suits your budget).

Rina recommends

Foundation Brush

Designed to achieve a smooth and flawless finish, the bristles are tightly packed with a tapered tip for fluid application. Dampen the brush first in warm water and squeeze the excess into a towel or tissue, this will create an even finish.

Rina recommends

Concealer brush

A soft bristled, flat brush with a wider base and a pointed tip, this brush can be used with cream based concealers to cover spots and blemishes instantly.

Rina recommends

Contouring brush

Slanted and rounded in shape, the contour brush mimics the angles of your cheekbones. This is ideal for highlighting and shading with bronzer or illuminating powder.

Rina recommends

Blusher brush

Blusher needs to be applied very lightly on to the apple of your cheeks with gentle circular movements. Made with fine, soft fibres the blusher brush has a rounded head for easy application.

Rina recommends

Lip brush

The sculpted tip of a lip brush is perfect for achieving a flawless line. Its bristles are short and firm for a longer lasting, controlled and even application of lipstick. These brushes are also excellent for smudging your lip liner for a natural edged look.

Rina recommends

Brush cleaner

Make sure to buy some brush cleaner to stop bacteria spreading and keep your skin crystal clear. Foundation, eye shadow and lip brushes should be cleansed after each use. Other types of brushes such as powder and blusher can be cleansed once a week.
