It’s Women’s Equality Day and the big brands are out in force to support women all around the world. But how can we do our bit? This Women’s Equality Day we’re celebrating all the boss ladies out there who have started their own brands from scratch, by pledging to buy their products – and you can too. We’ve rounded up 7 of our favourite brands, run and founded by incredible women, so you can get yourself some new goodies and support your fellow females at the same time. Who run the world? Girls!

Charlotte Tilbury – Charlotte Tilbury

Worn by the likes of Megan Markle, Alexa Chung and Gweneth Paltrow to name but a few, Charlotte Tilbury has absolutely stormed the scene since launching her make-up brand in 2013. With her cult lipstick, Pillowtalk, being sold once every 2 minutes all over the world, this lady has made an impact on the makeup world that we can’t ignore. Famed for her pretty, soft and feminine make-up style, this is a great excuse for you to pick up some everyday basics to add to your make-up bag.

You can buy Charlotte Tilbury products at:

Fenty beauty –  Rihanna

Singing, dancing, acting, fashion and beauty – is there anything Rihanna can’t do? Her first make-up range, Fenty Beauty, was launched back in September 2017, and it’s gone from strength to strength ever since. Popular for its broad inclusivity across skin tones and gender, especially its Pro Filt’R foundation, this is a brand we love to spend our money on.

Fenty Beauty is available at:

Sunday Riley – Sunday Riley

This high-end skin-care brand was started by (and named after) Sunday Riley herself in 2009, and is world famous for its high end product offering. It’s not cheap, but we’re firm believers in treat yo’self – and we will be doing so…

Sunday Riley is available at:

Beauty Bakerie – Cashmere Nicole

Cashmere Nicole built her quirky brand, Beauty Bakerie, up to the top whilst raising her daughter single-handedly – talk about girl power! Available at Boots, its gorgeous quirky packaging and great quality products make this brand one you need in your make-up bag.

Beauty Bakerie is available at:

OUAI – Jen Atkin

Jen Atkin harnessed the power of social media to market her hair-care brand and propel it into cult status. Making everything from shampoos and hairspray to finishing crème and wave spray, the line is ridiculously thorough and has cute, chic packaging to match.  With a client list that includes Chrissy Teigen, Jenna Dewan Tatum, and just about every member of the Kardashian-Jenner family, why wouldn’t you want a piece of the action?

OUAI is available at:

Benefit – Jean and Jane Ford, Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson

Identical twins Jean and Jane Ford opened a small beauty boutique in San Francisco back in 1976, and the rest was history! Jean’s daughters Maggie and Annie got involved and Benefit Cosmetics was born. The kitsch packaging and fun product names are only a few of the things we love about this female, family founded business. Jean sadly passed away last year at 71 years of age, but her daughters continue to grow the brand today.

Benefit is available at:

Beautyblender – Rea Ann Silva

If there’s one make-up bag staple we can’t live without, it’s a Beautyblender! The famous egg shaped tool is perfect for blending foundation, concealer and highlighter to perfection, so if you want that contoured look, you need one of these. Created by girl-boos Rea Ann Silva, a Latina makeup-artist-turned-businesswoman, it’s sold 9 million this past year and over 50 million since 2009.
