Parents may think that they know what they’re doing when it comes to buying toys, but they are grown ups – what we’re really interested in is what the kids think. This year, the Christmas list made is being checked twice and not just by Santa, because we’ve gathered our dedicated team of in-house toy testers (between the ages of 2 ½  and 7) to review a handful of goodies from Smiggle and Disney

From Elsa singing dolls from the movie hit Frozen to oh-so adorable fluffy unicorn earmuffs, get ready to snap these bad boys up this year. Read on to get the low down…

Sing It Karaoke, Smiggle, £39

Toy tester Lara, age 7

The verdict: “It’s really fun, and I really like the echo effect as it makes my voice sound funny. The colours that light up are really exciting and it makes me want to sing along with everything!”

Singing Elsa doll Frozen 2, shopDisney, £17

Toy tester Lara, age 7

The verdict: “I love the music as I have just seen the new movie. The dress matches Elsa’s outfit in the film and it makes her look really pretty with really long hair.”

Singing Anna doll Frozen 2, shopDisney, £17

Toy tester Grace, age 2 ¾

The verdict (translated by mum): “Grace has been completely obsessed with her singing Anna doll. Everywhere we go, Anna now has to go with us too – even coming to see Frozen 2 at the cinema! Grace has already learnt how to sing the song The Next Right Thing that plays when you turn Anna’s hand.”

Frozen playset collection littles, shopDisney, £16

Toy tester Louis, age 3

The verdict: “The mystery character bag is my favourite part – I got Sven. The house is fun and plays nice music from the film which I loved.

Frozen 2 deluxe art kit, shopDisney, £20

Toy tester Xander, age 5

The verdict: ‘Wow, its huge! It’s really good and I enjoyed discovering all the different sets like pencils, pens, crayons, water colours, poster paints and stencils, plus scissors. I loved the secret drawer which had even more things inside!”

Toy tester Loa, age 2 ½

The verdict: “I love the purple pencil and crayon because it’s my favourite colour. I also enjoyed cutting shapes out using scissors.”

Imagine unicorn earmuffs, Smiggle, £12

Toy tester Grace, age 2 ¾

The verdict: “The unicorn ear muffs have been a big hit with Grace. She has been calling them her ‘magic horse ears’ and they’ve been doing a brilliant job at keeping her nice and toasty in the colder weather. Such a lovely stocking filler for anyone who loves practical items mixed with fun and magic!”
