As Christmas slowly creeps closer, it’s time to start organising your social calendar, and top of the list should be arranging Christmas dinners and parties. Whether you’re going out-out with the girls or arranging a work dinner with colleagues, taking advantage of the set menus your favourite restaurants offer is a great way to guarantee you can afford the festivities, all season long. 

So, we’ve done the research and rounded up 8 of the best Christmas set menus on the high street, from Wetherspoon to Zizzi, Chiquito to TGI Fridays. Cheers!

Pizza Express

The menu: Pizza Express’ new Christmas menu sounds like a festive Italian dream! For starters, choose between Pigs in Blankets and Rosemary & Chutney Bread, then you have a choice of three pizzas; Porchetta, Vegan Zucca or Quattro Formaggi, and finally four – yes, four! – desserts to choose from, including Snowball Dough Balls, Mince Pie Dolcetti, Millionaire’s Fudge Cake and Black Forest Cake.

J D Wetherspoon

The offer: A range of festive meals and deli deals with drink included

The menu: J D Wetherspoon always go all-out with their Christmas menu, and this year is no exception. As always, the classic Christmas roast dinner is an option for all, but ‘spoons have added a festive feast of 4 burgers to the menu – Brie and bacon burger, chicken and stuffing burger, buttermilk chicken and stuffing burger, and a Brie and cranberry vegetable burger – all available as a festive meal deal. Two new festive pizzas have also joined the line up; an 11″ chicken, stuffing, bacon and Brie pizza, and an 11″ Brie and smoky chilli jam pizza, both including a drink. Both pizzas are available as smell plate versions, along with pigs-in-blankets, and can be mixed and matched with other small plates as part of an ‘any 3 for’ offer. In need of something sweet? Dessert options include a gingerbread muffin, festive mince tart, melty mallow stack and Baileys chocolate bread and butter pudding.

TGI Fridays

The menu: What’s NOT on TGI Fridays Christmas menu? One of the biggest we’ve seen, your choice of appetisers ranges from classic mozzarella dippers and sesame chicken strips to loaded potato skins and firecracker popcorn shrimp. For mains, choose from tasty treats including New York strip steak, sizzling chicken, classic ribs, cajun cream pasta and more. For dessert? Choices include a cookie dough sundae, New York style cheesecake, brownie, and fresh fruit and orange sorbet sundae. And it wouldn’t be TGIFs without the cocktails, which can be added to the 3 courses for just £3.99. Choose from gin spritz, purple rain, cosmos, woo woos and a blueberry mocktail. Cheers! 

Frankie & Benny’s

The menu: For starters, you can choose from a selection of tempting treats including breaded shrimp cocktail, Tuscan soup and Meatballs Al Forno. For mains, choose from indulgent dishes such as Turkey meatball carbonara, 10” Four Cheese pizza, half rack of ribs and Brie and cranberry burger. And, because you HAVE to fit in dessert, your choices include the insane sounding Toblerone cheesecake, Chocolate profiterole cake, Trifle sundae, Mince pie no-cheesecake and classic ice cream. And lets not forget their amazing drinks bundles; 2 bottles of house wine for £20, 5 bottles of Budweiser for £15 or £10 for a bottle of Prosecco.

Zizzi

The offer: 3 courses or 3 courses plus a drink

The price: 3 courses for £19.95, 3 courses and a drink for £25.95

The menu: From their set 3 course menu, without a drink, you can choose from two starters, an antipasti platter or a vegan bruschetta. For mains, there’s a huge array of choice, from lasagne to super zucca salad, ravioli di capra to rustica pizza. And for dessert, choose from gelato or sorbet, tiramisu, passionfruit cheesecake or chocolate melt. From their set 3 course plus a drink menu, you choice of tipple is between a house prosecco and a passion fruitini cocktail. The choice of starters on this menu is huge, from mozzarella and ‘nduja trees (yum!) to garlic king prawns and vegan ’beetball’ polpette. For mains, choices include pork belly calabrese, brisket and venison tagliatelle, two types of calzone and five types of pizza – and that’s not even all of them! For dessert, choose from seven different options, including a classic tiramisu, honeycomb cheesecake, red velvet brownie and many more.  

Pizza Hut

The menu: So, Pizza Hut are going a little left field with their set Christmas menu. Called ‘The Individual’, they’re offering a drink, starter, main course and unlimited salad, starting from £14.99. To start, you can choose from classics such as garlic bread, cheesy bites, chicken wings and hot dog bites, and for mains (you guessed it) a pizza you can personalise or upgrade with stuffed crusts, bases and other add ons. Their unlimited salad bar needs no introduction, and for the drinks, you can choose from a soft drink, beer, cider or glass of wine. And for those with a sweet tooth, you can add a dessert on for just £3. Bargain.

Chiquito

The offer: 2 or 3 courses

The price: 2 courses for £15.99, 3 courses for £17.99

The menu: Chiquito’s ‘Mexmas’ menu is a good ‘un. To start, choose from such delicious options as turkey tostada, pigs in blankets and halloumi bites – a tough selection to choose from, if we do say so. Chiquito’s exotic mains include piri piri fajitas, a Christmas burrito (yes, really!), tacos rojos and more. If you’re opting for the third dessert course, choices include churros, chocolate orange roulade, Mexican yule log and more. And let’s not forget the cocktails! Think snowflake martinis, boozy mochas and tasty bellinis, priced from £4.99 to £6.99.
