Christmas presents and parties aside, one of our favourite things about the festive season is the host of blockbuster films arriving in the cinemas, and this year we’re in for a treat. From the highly (highly) anticipated Frozen 2 to the hilarious sounding Spies in Disguise and the so-far controversial Cats, there’s a fun film suitable for every family member.

So book those tickets, grab the popcorn and settle in for a season of silver screen magic!

Frozen 2

It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for (yes, ALL of us!). Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven are back with Frozen 2, the long awaited sequel to the smash hit, Frozen. Details of the plot of the second film are being kept firmly under wraps, but from the trailer we know the gang head out on an adventure far away from Arendelle, possibly to discover more about Elsa’s powers. We. Can’t. Wait to hear the new songs and have them stuck in our heads for the next 6 years.

Arctic Dogs

With an all-star cast including James Franco, Jeremy Renner, Heidi Klum and Anjelica Huston, Arctic Dogs is a fun, animated movie about Swifty the Arctic Fox, a mailroom worker for the Arctic Blast Delivery service, who dreams of becoming a Top Dog, the Arctic’s star husky courier. On his mission to prove himself, he uncovers an evil plan being plotted by  Otto Von Walrus (John Cleese) that could endanger the entire world!

Jumanji: The Next Level

Do we need to say any more about Jumanji: The Next Level than it stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson? Yep, we thought so. Just in case though, the plot revolves around a team of friends who are forced to go into Jumanji to rescue their friend. Featuring an all-star cast – Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Danny DeVito and Nick Jonas to name a few – this is a proper popcorn flick the whole family will love.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

The third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and the final episode in the ‘Skywalker saga’, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will see the Resistance battle the First Order once again, and the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith will finally be resolved. We’re hoping to see some kick ass action scenes from Rey (Daisy Ridley) and some brooding, intense scenes from Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

Despite being a hit West End musical for 21 years, apparently the plot of Cats is difficult to describe, so we’re hoping the movie version will be clearer. IMDB describes it as, ‘A tribe of cats called the Jellicles must decide yearly which one will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new Jellicle life’, which sounds great, but honestly we’re just excited about the cast. Think Jennifer Hudson, Idris Elba, Judi Dench, Taylor Swift and James Corden, to name just a few superstars.

Spies in Disguise

Ok, this movie sounds like just plain old FUN. When the world’s best spy (Will Smith) is turned into a pigeon, he has to rely on new friend Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) to help him save the world. Sounds pretty good, right? With additional voices from DJ Khaled, Rashida Jones and Karen Gillan, we’re excited for some silly popcorn viewing.
