The Community School Clothing Scheme was set up two years ago by Freema Chambers after struggling to replace her son’s school trousers in times of financial difficulties, often relying on passed down clothing from her friends.

Wanting to help families in a similar situation Freema began collecting unwanted school uniforms which could then be given to families in need. With the support of the headmaster from her son’s school she was able to collect more and more items of clothing.

Determined to help as many families as she could Freema created The Community School Clothing Scheme Facebook page and various local collection points but demands outgrew the space and in 2018 she took over a 22,000 sq ft hub at The Cobalt in North Tyneside.
