Watford’s finest Lower Than Atlantis visit hmv to perform live and sign copies of their fourth full-length eponymously titled release.
Returning with their eagerly anticipated fourth album, Lower Than Atlantis present an eclectic mix of tracks, transcending genres whilst retaining their pop sensibilities. As frontman Mike explains to University of York’s student paper Nouse “they’re just catchy pop songs with a band playing them. A good song could be translated to any genre.”
The tracklist ranges from rock anthems ‘Emily’ and ‘Here We Go’ to break-up song ‘Ain’t No Friend Of Mine’ along with the proud homage to touring that is ‘English Kids In America’. Daily Star simply called the record “incredible”, while Rock Sound wrote “not only have LTA delivered the best album they’ve ever made, they’ve delivered possibly the best album you’ll hear this year.”
The band’s album signings follow a string of intimate summer shows and appearances on the NME/Radio 1 Reading and Leeds stages. The lead single from ‘Lower Than Atlantis’ was premiered by Zane Lowe and the band recently headlined Radio 1 Rocks Week. Lower Than Atlantis formed in 2007 building up a following in their local alternative rock scene. They supported Blink-182 after sneaking backstage at a gig to hand Mark Hoppus a copy of their album. Alongside work on the album Mike from Lower Than Atlantis has been co-writing with 5 Seconds of Summer.
