We know the six week school summer holiday can 'drag-on' when finding ways to keep the kids entertained. But don't worry, we've got you covered at intu Chapelfield!
To coincide with the brilliant GoGoDragons! 2015 art trail in Norwich we've got lots of fantastic free activities (excluding T-Shirt workshops) for your little Dragons to enjoy every Wednesday and Thursday during the school holidays. Activities are for Kids' Club members, so don't forget your membership cards...and if your children aren't members yet you can sign them up online now or at our information desk.
Decorate a pop-up dragon using Pakistani truck art techniques with Heritage dragon artists Tim and Fiona. Learn about these brightly coloured vehicles that travel thousands of miles in South Asia, why are they decorated so elaborately? What is their significance? What patterns and creatures are used as decoration? Our sponsored dragon The Queen of Norwich on little Bethel Street knows...
Make your own Puppet Dragon with a talented team from Norwich Puppet Theatre, then make him or her come to life in their mini puppet theatre on lower ground mall. The Theatre is home to our sponsored Heritage dragon ‘Crypto’ – who contains a little surprise!
It's flint knapping time at intu Chapelfield. Inspired by the Flint covered dragon outside the Guildhall, children can decorate a paper dragon in flint shapes, patterns and styles using charcoals, pens and other materials to re-create the look of flint. Also, dragon artist Mik will be helping children to design and paint their very own dragon t-shirt (our activities are all free, but we are asking parents to make a £5 donation to Break for each t-shirt).
We’re being visited by Epico and Sir Aurelious Jones. In the Dragons Lair children must rescue Sir Aurelious from certain death and teach him how to become friends with the dragon. At the end of the show there will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for all to get up close and personal with biggest, brightest & most beautiful creature ever seen. You could make friends...but only if you dare!
Norwich has many churches, and they have many stained glass windows. These beautiful, colourful examples of traditional crafts will be re-created in this workshop using materials such as tissue paper and card. Learn about the images in the windows and create your own story window, including family, pets and favourite things - all with the help of GoGoDragons! dragon artists Tim and Fiona.
Add some colour to a giant dragon art masterpiece on Chapelfield Plain with our Urban Canvas pavement art workshop. Not to be missed!
Existing Kids' Club members can bring along their membership cards to show upon arrival. Not a member? You can sign up online or in centre at our Information Desk on the Upper Ground Mall opposite The Sunglass Hut.
Don't forget you can also keep up to date with our very own scaly friend, GoGoSoupDragon on Twitter @GoGoSoupDragon. He loves a selfie too (let's face it he is broth-taking...) so make sure you take your picture with him and tweet or instagram it @intuChapelfield, using the hashtag #GGD15.
Places for all events are on a first come, first served basis. Where we are very busy we will need to take bookings on the day.
